Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2025 | Governing law: England and Wales
1. TipMe as a Technology Intermediary
TipMe Ltd provides a technology platform that facilitates digital tip payments between customers (“tippers”) and service workers (“collectors”). TipMe is a payment technology intermediary, not an employer, agent, or financial institution. All payments are processed by Stripe, a regulated payment service provider.
2. Collector Subscriptions
Collector accounts require a subscription of £10.00 per month (inclusive of VAT where applicable). Subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe. Cancellation requires 30 days' written notice. Upon cancellation, your tip page will remain active until the end of the billing period, then be deactivated. No refunds are issued for partial months.
3. Tipping Fee Structure
Tippers are charged the tip amount selected plus a 20% TipMe platform fee added on top. This fee is charged to the tipper, not deducted from the tip. 100% of every tip goes directly to the collector. Always. The 20% platform fee is retained by TipMe Ltd.
4. Tax Disclaimer — HMRC Responsibility
⚠️ Important Tax Notice
Tips received through TipMe may constitute taxable income under UK tax law and may be subject to Income Tax and National Insurance Contributions. TipMe Ltd is not responsible for your tax affairs. Collectors are solely responsible for declaring tip income to HMRC. TipMe provides annual earnings summaries to assist with tax declarations but this does not constitute tax advice. Please consult HMRC (gov.uk/tips-at-work) or a qualified accountant.
5. Prohibited Conduct
- Self-tipping (tipping your own collector account)
- Coordinated tip fraud or artificial inflation of earnings
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions
- Using TipMe for any unlawful purpose
- Misrepresenting your identity, role, or employer
Violations may result in immediate account termination and referral to relevant authorities.
6. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal right to work and receive payments in the United Kingdom to register as a collector. TipMe reserves the right to verify eligibility at any time.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TipMe Ltd shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you in subscription fees in the 3 months preceding the claim.
8. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
